Roberto is a former business school professor and former member of 3M's Corporate Strategy Group, where he spent eight years deploying his Strategic Resource Mapping (SRM) methodology across R&D, manufacturing, sales, and M&A. His work at 3M earned the Pyramid of Excellence, the company's highest corporate staff award.

He holds a Ph.D. from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota and has held academic appointments across the United States, Europe, and Scandinavia. His research on expertise, capability mapping, and innovation has been published in journals including Business Horizons and Research Policy, with over 5,700 citations.

Roberto founded Exospect to bring the SRM methodology and its supporting technology to organisations navigating complex capability challenges — from workforce planning and innovation strategy to post-merger integration.
